Committee Mtg. Notes 2/11/08

In Attendance were:

Items Discussed:
Troop Calendar- Rough draft created: Keith put together a calendar that will help get us organized and on track for the 2008 year. Once finalized, I'll post it on the site.

Troop Treasurer:
We need someone to step up and become a treasurer for the Troop.

Winter Camp at Wokanda:
• Need to get a list of everyone who's going
• Determine cost per scout
• Menu planning
• May need to bring firewood
• Activities:fire building, night hike, sledding, "survivor" competition, Photography Merit Badge
• Due to band conflicts, some scouts will not be at the campout Saturday morning, but will be coming out later in the day

Scout Meetings every week:
Instead of meeting twice per month, we are going to start meeting every week. One meeting per month will be dedicated to advancement, while the other meetings will be geared toward scout skills, merit badge work, fun, etc. More details to follow. A starting date has not been chosen yet.

Scout Dues:
Should we start collecting dues weekly? $1.00 per meeting to help cover cost of advancement materials?

• Upcoming Activities-We discussed upcoming events:
• Hike in March
• Court of Honor March 18th
• Pathways in April
• Fishing/Wilderness Survival Campout at Ingersoll in May
• Canoe trip on Fox River in June.
• Lincoln Pilgrimage
• Also need to look into a Cache Lake High Adventure trip in 2009.

Optimist Club Fundraiser: Golf outing
• How can our Troop help?

• Potential Eagle projects / service projects:
• Plant trees at Optimist cabin
• Construct a bridge over the creek to reach the back property at the cabin
• Paint / stain the cabin exterior

• Friends of Scouting:
It was decided we would pass on this for now, and either do a troop donation or schedule it for later on in the year.

• EP Clean Sweep & Scout Sweep:
City-wide cleanup events in April. We will try for at least one of these, maybe both, depending on interest.
