Klondike Derby 2009

The one thing you can count on, is that the Klondike Derby will be bone-chilling cold, and it sure was this year(although not as cold as last year).

The scouts braved the chilly weather and had a good time participating in the different stations around Camp Wokanda.

Of course, the best part of the day was the lunch that was prepared by Keith, Phil, and John. John's Italian Roast made standing out in the cold for 4 hours more than worth it!!!

The "Spengler-Bohnker" Cafe....
True outdoor dining atmosphere.
You kill it...We grill it!

J.D. tries to work on his tan, but instead,
only gets rosy cheeks!

Colby, looking determined and confident.....
or thinking " I wish I was in my nice warm home."

Logan and Tanner succumb to the intoxicating
sugar comma from all the hot chocolate.
The sugar is just taking effect on Chance, as
his eye roll back in his head.

Andrew quietly sat off to the side during lunch,
reading a book. Little did we know that he was
formulating his plan to take over the world...

Dylan, having a "blond moment", even though
he's a brunette.

Spirit, the wonder dog, pulled the klondike
sled across the frozen tundra of Wokanda...
(with the help of the scouts)

Fishing for mousetraps....go figure?

Vermillion River 2008 Pics

The can0e trip down the Vermillion last August was a lot of fun. The boys had a blast squirting each other and the adults with squirtguns and splashing with their paddles. The water was a bit low, and for some of "gravity- challenged" adults, we had to portage the canoes across the gravel shallows. It was a great time!

The frozen waters of the Illinois...

Three brave souls....or maybe "stupid" is more like it.

Nervous anticipation before the jump

Logan couldn't decide whether to paint his face
Raider maroon or Raider gold... so he did half & half.
