The Rigors of Camp Life Catch Up With the Boys

I can't wait to sleep in a real bed!

...Dreaming of cheeseburgers and french fries!

Tubing on Cedar Creek

Have tube.....will travel...

Tanner demonstrates the "walk the tube" technique

"look out for the tree!!!"

Although a bit brown and muddy, the trip was a refreshing way to spend the afternoon!

MMMM...Good Ol' Dining Hall Food!

Big Jeff & Tanner relax at the mess hall....before the mile hike back to camp!

Turtles, Turtles, and More Turtles...

Tanner & Patrick on turtle patrol

A Little Piece of Heaven

Jeff & Logan's "home away from home" was a luxurious condo with several amenities: Wall to wall carpeting, nautical motif, covered porch, and let us not forget the sparkling pool...

Our 'Very Own" Olympics

With the older boys gone for the night on a wilderness survival trek, we thought we were in for a nice quiet night...... we were wrong.

With Patrick as ringmaster and Chance as judge & jury, the olympics kicked off with spear throwing and then on to leather mallet toss(right on to Jeff T's tent!)

Unfortunate side effect of going to Summer Camp....or the result of "Walking Nachos"?

Chance swings a mighty mallet...

Patrick....before the Olympics unraveled into a night of chaos!

The enthusiastic crowd was wild with excitement!

Shotgun & Crawdad

Shoot'em Up Schmidt- Ryan shooting clays at the shotgun range!

Eating lunch before Crawdad!
...nothing like filling your gut full of food and then sliding into the goopy waters of Cedar Creek and wallowing around in the mud!

...Scouts wait with nervous anticipation(you can see the anxiety on Phil's face)!

The sparkling waters of CRAWDAD!
Unfortunately, I do not have any pics of the mud battles-maybe someone else got off a couple clicks?

Colby makes a splash!

"Urine" for a Laugh

Necessity is the Mother of Invention.

To help keep the beautiful concrete latrine floors clean, 2 cinder blocks were placed directly below the hi-tech metal laterine... to help the younger, vertically challenged members of our Troop!

Life at Camp...

Logan teaches Chance how to light a pack stove...
so Chance can do ALL the cooking at the next campout!

Dreaming of Legos and life at home...

It's always important to brush your teeth...even at camp!

Ah Ah Ah....3, 3 Big Hills..........Ah Ah Ah..
Jeff and Caleb embracing the moment...

Waiting for roll call and then GRUB!

Awaiting the Big Storm.....That never Came!

Wednesday night. The hottest, most humid & buggy night of the week, also brought along the excitement of possible severe weather! Lightning flashed across the heavens and the temperature dropped, but the impending doom never developed?
Nevertheless, we all waited with baited breath beneath the eco-con shelter...

The boys were upset that the big storm didn't hit! (They wanted to sleep in the eco-con shelter instead of their spider-infested tents!)

Ryan and Chance nervously await the rain. Boy Scout motto is "Be Prepared", and Chance was!

John and Chance prepare for the coming monsoon with stylish mosquito netting...

Photos That Require No Explanation...

...Jeff spent a lot of time at the trading post.....perhaps too much time...

...Jeff Finds a use for his new carabiner

Jeff was the "King of the Latrine" cheerfully cleaning latrines every(well, almost every) day, while the younger lads were away at merit badge class

Turtle Races at Eco-Con!

Even though he was off to a slow start..... our turtle won the challenge!
(Who says turtles are slow?)

Hatchet Harrmann- A Tale of Two Tomahawks

Colton proudly poses with his incredible tomahawk throw.
The boys, many of which had never thrown a hawk, got the opportunity to throw one at Paul Bunyon Outpost. Colton threw a couple times, but fell a bit short of the log. He was ready to quit, when Dennis(a wonderful adult staff volunteer) talked to Colton and convinced him to keep trying and not give up. Colton kept with it and soon stuck his first hawk in a log(which was a great accomplishment alone!). Then, on his next throw, he hit the first tomahawk right on the handle below the head! To stick one tomahawk in the handle of another is an incredible feat! This is a great example of how you can accomplish anything if set your mind to it and don't give up!

Paul Bunyon Outpost

"MMMM..... Them there flapjacks smell goooooood!"
(Unfortunately, the staff who worked at the Paul Bunyon program ate pancakes every day during their stay!)

Like a Squirrel Up a Tree.....Patrick shimmies up the pole at paul bunyon

Logan clings on for dear life as he periously hovers over the ground!
